This morning was a tough one. I'm a morning person, and I like my job, but let me tell you, this weekend was a good one. Good food, good drinks, good friends, a dress fitting, a hair appointment, and a holiday party. Saturday evening/night we decided to stay home and relax. We made a few stops on our way home from my parents house for some essentials, then ate and watched Elf (one of my favorite holiday movies).
Being Jewish, we never had a Christmas tree (obviously) but we did have Hanukkah lights (in blue and white, of course). Andrew's not Jewish, but he also didn't really want a tree
(partially because of Neville). So we settled on some white lights, and a boxwood wreath... I wasn't in love with the pine ones, and this one just looks a little more contemporary.
(Sorry for the blurry photo)
We put up our lights yesterday morning and I got a decent photo from last night when we were heading to dinner.
We also stopped at Trader Joe's and picked up a whole chicken and veggies. This is the before photo.
(There isn't an after photo because we were starving and ate it all)
We also took a trip to BevMo for some important stuff. I picked up some Scrappy's Orange Bitters last week so we decided to find a recipe that used them.
The Casino Cocktail:
Shake & Pour over Ice
It was pretty good, a little strong, but worked really well with our chicken!
Then Sunday night, we went to one of my FAVORITE places. Cafe Sevilla on Pine St. downtown has the best tapas in Long Beach. Plus, Sunday is Happy Hour ALL DAY. We went around 5:30, so we had plenty of time to digest when we got home, before bed.
Their white sangria is ah.maz.ing. So, of course, we had to get a pitcher (Only $14 during happy hour!)
3 of our favorite tapas: baguette with roasted tomato and garlic aioli, Spanish sausage trio, and charcuterie. (Andrew swears he could live off of cured meats and cheeses)
My ABSOLUTE favorite tapas that they have becomes my dessert every time we eat there. Bacon Wrapped Dates, stuffed with Bleu Cheese... SO amazing. I mean really, crispy, salty bacon, around sweet, sticky dates, filled with BLEU CHEESE?! Come on, is there anything better?
(Of course, after we ordered those, our server told us they now have churros, my favorite dessert of all time, but we saved those for next time)
So, the first weekend of December was a good one, now it's over, and Andrew's birthday is tomorrow, and we have to really start on wedding decor. December's going to be a crazy, crazy month. Can't believe it's almost January!
